Pick One Thing

A common challenge we hear from small business owners is feeling overwhelmed by all the things they need to do to improve their operations. Whether it's software, processes, documentation, or team management–the list feels endless.

And while you may think it's a good idea to tackle everything at once to get your business exactly right, we can say from experience that it is the absolute last thing you should do. Imagine spending all of that time and energy, only to realize you're burned out and still not where you want to be?

It will make you never want to work on or improve your operations again.

So what should you do in this situation–or any situation when you're overwhelmed by the number of possibilities?

Pick one thing to do first.

Ideally, make it something that's a low lift for you. Something small that you can actually complete, learn from, and build confidence around. Maybe it's creating one email template, documenting one simple process, or finally updating your Google Business hours for the holidays.

With that one thing accomplished, you'll have momentum. You'll have learned something. And most importantly, you'll have proven to yourself that you can make progress–even when you're building it as you fly.

The key isn't doing everything perfectly. The key is picking one thing and actually doing it.

What’s one thing you can do today to move your business forward?
